Help!

Below is some useful information for those, whose accounts have been hacked. Currently, there is only information for recovering Steam accounts; I will look towards adding more content in the near future.

Firstly, you need to know what it was that made you lose your Steam account. If you have a strong password, we can rule out the possibility of it being guessed by a “friend”. However, if you think that your password was weak enough to be guessed, after reading this I suggest you set a strong password. You can find details on how to do this by reading the Anti-Hackers! Account Security Guide.

The easiest and most common method of hacking would undoubtedly be the phishing websites we try to alert you about.

Below are the steps you need to take if you are trying to retrieve a lost Steam account…

If you do not have one, create a Steam Support account. This is separate from your actual Steam Account. Here is the URL to the Steam Support Home Page: https://support.steampowered.com/index.php

The first screen that comes up will ask you whether the problem is game-related or Steam-related. It’s your Steam account itself that has been hacked, therefore click on Steam.

The link to create an account is in the top right of the page. Do the usual for creating an account and confirm your email address. Remember to set a good password!

Once created and logged into your account, on the right of the page you should see an image telling you to contact Steam Support if you can’t find what you’re looking for. Click there.

Start to type what your question is into the box headed “Your Question”. You should tell them things like when it happened, if you have a time, day etc. Fill in this form as completely as you can to increase your chances of reclaiming your Steam Account. Make sure you fill in the Subject bar and both Category bars. Type in the account name of the lost Steam Account where it asks for it, under “Additional Information”. If you have bought a game for Steam from a retail store, it would be a good idea to enter your CD Key, because this will help prove the Steam account belongs to you. Enter all other details, then click the button to submit your question.

Your question has now been sent to Steam Support, and they should reply soon.

When you have received a reply from a Support team member, you must respond and act accordingly depending on what the reply was. Basically, if you want to retrieve the lost Steam Account just do as they say.

Your question will be closed if you go for a long time without responding to Steam Support. If the question is closed then you can re-open it and continue trying to retrieve your lost Steam Account. You can view and manage your Steam Support questions by clicking on Your Questions which should be near the top right of the screen whenever you are on the Steam Support website and logged into your Steam Support Account.
